Thalia Lee

Thalia_P01.png

Thalia Lee is a designer and strategist from Singapore and New York. Originally beginning her career as a management consultant, she pivoted to join Pratt’s Masters in Industrial Design in 2023 to explore design as a channel of connection to ourselves, the people and the systems around us. While her work so far has focused on furniture, lighting and homewares, she is always looking for ways to combine her two backgrounds and apply them to new realms. Her interests stretch across sensory and experiential design, wellbeing, craft, natural materials, modularity and systems, seasoned with a sprinkle of tropical sensibility.

Reimagining Waiting Lines as Spaces for Play in Adulthood

Dapple is a reimagination of the standard post-and-belt unit into a modular, interactive stanchion using light, touch and colour to reframe waiting lines as a space for adults to play. Envisioned in retail and hospitality spaces, Dapple offers open-ended, bite-sized interactions suitable for both individuals and groups, and can be reconfigured to craft waiting lines into unique, engaging spaces customised to different venues.
