ChiaMin Liao (Jamie) is a Taiwanese industrial designer based in New York. Her work explores how everyday objects shape emotional experiences through the lens of the five senses and personal rituals. She is especially interested in modular design and creating adaptable systems for daily life. In her practice, she enjoys experimenting with different forms of making, including ceramics and silkscreen printing, as a way to expand how design can be expressed.

Echo Blossom

Designing Passive Sound Systems in Urban Infrastructure.

Echo Blossom is a design project that explores how overlooked urban infrastructure can become a medium for sound. In fast-paced cities filled with overwhelming noise, the project addresses how we might shift attention rather than add more sound.

By embedding passive sound mechanisms into systems like pipes, natural forces such as water flow activate dispersed elements to create an evolving sonic environment. These subtle sounds gently interrupt routine, inviting awareness and allowing the city to be rediscovered through its hidden rhythms.
