Tzu-Yu (Regulus) Chen

Tzu-Yu_P01_Edited.jpg

Tzu-Yu Chen is an industrial designer from Taiwan whose work explores the relationship between material, culture, and everyday experience. Her projects often begin with a specific material or context—ranging from biodegradable mycelium to traditional patterns—and develop into products that balance function with narrative. She is interested in how objects can carry subtle meanings while remaining practical and intuitive to use. Her practice focuses on translating abstract concepts into tangible forms through careful attention to structure, interaction, and detail.

Nestwork

Between Rest and Work

Project Description

Nestwork is a soft structural support system designed for working in bed, a common yet overlooked environment in the post-pandemic era. While often considered unhealthy, working from bed persists due to comfort and spatial constraints, yet existing solutions rely on unstable pillows or disconnected setups. Nestwork addresses this by integrating the mattress and wall as part of a continuous support system, stabilizing posture and supporting device interaction. By focusing on the body rather than the device, it enables more adaptable, comfortable, and sustainable work across a range of reclined positions.
